WHAT IS INTERVARSITY?
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is an interdenominational, evangelical, student-led ministry serving students, faculty, and staff at the University of Delaware since 1945. We are a group of students who are committed to learning about what it means to be Christians. We come to know God better by living out the teachings of the Bible. We invite people of all denominations and backgrounds to join us in fellowship and service!
We are INTERDENOMINATIONAL.
For people of any or no church background. We encourage attendance at the church of your choice.
We are EVANGELICAL.
Holding forth the truths of Biblical Christianity to build up those who are already Christians and to call those who are not to a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
We are STUDENT-LED.
Yearly, student select among their peers those who will lead the fellowship. Full-time IVCF staff advise, coach, and train all students.
Intervarsity USA's Heritage
InterVarsity traces its roots to a movement of British university students in the 1870s. The first InterVarsity chapter in the United States began in 1938 at the University of Michigan. Since InterVarsity was incorporated in 1941, thousands of students have become thoughtful representatives of God’s kingdom and have moved into leadership roles in churches, organizations, corporations and agencies around the world.
Our purpose is to… Establish and advance at colleges and universities witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord: growing in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture and God’s purposes in the world.
